MORGAN-NL_9A Fata Morgana is an unusual and complicated form of mirage visible just above the horizon. The term has been derived from an Italian phrase. Often the images are distorted into unrecognisable shapes. Fata Morgana is, however also the name for the club magazine belonging to the Morgan Sports car Club in Holland (MSCCH). It is most certainly not a mirage. Its content reports on interesting and important themes from the Morgan scene, such as the 50th anniversary celebrations planned for the club in 2012 . "The 40 Year MSCCH celebrations". (see events).
Of course the magazine also contains all the important contact details for the club.

We have often reported on interesting subjects concerning classic cars in Holland, not least because Classic cars are not subject to road tax in Holland. This is also reflected in the relatively high number of Dutch entries on our website."Kan ik uw helpe" is more than a polite phrase in the Netherlands. You will very often hear it used in the Service Industry and of course in relation to classic cars. For example take a look at the entry belonging to the Dutch Morgan specialist Machiel Kalf. As has often happens, our first contact with him was more by accident than design (not a road accident I must add!). Indeed it was a chain of unplanned events. It began with a very active Morgan specialist in Germany winning the first prize in our last Christmas competition (the etching of a Bently by Bernd Lehmann). He introduced Mr Kalf to ClassicIndex. He was so pleased with the assistance we gave him in publishing his entry that he invited us to Oudendijk, near Hoorn.

We thought, why not? A trip to the Netherlands is always worthwhile. The countryside is lovely and the people always very friendly. We also recognised development potential in our own Morgan category on ClassicIndex.eu. So a painting set us on our way. The cornerstone of British classic cars is interesting to many enthusiasts. If the purchase price, starting around €40,000, does not frighten you off, there is the possibility to purchase a brand new "old timer" without having the problems of old age. Other than the headlights being built into the wings from the beginning of the 1960s, not much has changed in the Morgan over the years. At least that is what it seems at first sight. What has remained constant through the years is the absolute pure open air driving experience; only to be experienced in true classic cars.

As in the Porsche 911 or Mercedes SL, most Morgans that were built are still on the road. If you really want to buy a classic rather than a new car, then it is sensible to take advice from a specialist lie Mr Kalf. Expensive mistakes can then be avoided. He is the foremost Morgan expert in Holland and can give tips and advice on all the models built between 1909 and 1985. It is easy to see how important Morgans are to him when you visit his home. Throughout the house there are photos, old signs, models and accessories, all with the Morgan as theme. In his Englist Cottage garden stands his "Morgan home". Garage is an understatement. Beside a large parking area is a very well equipped workshop with an extensive archive of old magazines, manuals and the like. The part of the workshop he uses for his main trade as a master clockmaker is small in comparison. The Morgan theme also clearly permeates this area. Like most specialists, Mr Kalf can provide technical assistance, even though he does not trade in spare parts or repair vehicles. If someone, however has a problem with their Morgan or has a technical question, his first reaction is "Ik kan u helpe".

You will find more contacts and regional Dutch Morgan clubs  "MSCCH" or  "Morgan".
