THE GOODWOOD REVIVAL: ONCE UPON A DREAM...
The Goodwood Revival came to life in the autumn of 1998 – a dream cometrue for the Earl of March, whose grandfather – the ninth Duke of Richmond –
had first opened the motor circuit at Goodwood in 1948. The aim of the event is to relive the glory days of Goodwood Motor Circuit, which – along with Silverstone – was Britain's leading racing venue during its active years between 1948 and 1966. During this time it hosted contemporary racing of all kinds, including Formula One, the famous Goodwood Nine Hours race and the celebrated Tourist Trophy sports car race.

In 2010 the ClassicIndex.eu team concentrated on workshops and clubs, which are, without doubt, the core of the classic car scene and important to us to raise the website's profile in the UK. The results are tangible – have a look at the report Classic Car Holiday in Britain. But is it sensible to drive to England in search of classic vehicle spares? The answer depends naturally on each individual need. What we do know, however, is that the International Auto Jumble, held annually in Beaulieu near Southampton and the Goodwood Revival, are two events that we would class as "must visit". We were there again this year. 

Sein Debüt im März 1961 in Genf elektrisierte die Auto-Welt.

Mit dem Jaguar E-TYPE feiert in diesem Jahr einer der legendärsten Sportwagen der Automobil-Historie 50jähriges Jubiläum. Sogar Enzo Ferrari bekannte sich mit dem Lob „das schönste Auto der Welt" als Bewunderer. Für Jaguar erwies sich der am 15. März 1961 in Genf enthüllte XKNachfolger nicht nur als Image-Träger, sondern auch als kommerzieller Erfolg. In 14 Jahren erlagen weltweit über 72.500 Käufer den Reizen des als Coupé und Roadster erhältlichen Modells. So wurde der zunächst nur in einer Auflage von 1.000 Stück angedachte E-TYPE zu einem der ersten in großen Stückzahlen produzierten Vollblut-Sportler. Seit 1996 ziert die Designikone die Dauerausstellung des New Yorker Museum of Modern Art.

Das die Classic Days etwas anders sind, als Oldtimer-Treffen der üblichen Art, das haben wir in dem Bericht "Classic Days 2011" beschrieben.
Man nähert sich auf Schloss Dyck jedoch, im Rahmen des möglichen, immer mehr an das an, was bei der „Goodwood Revival" Veranstaltung  geboten wird.
