5. Classic Days at Schloss Dyck , The good mood festival of speed

More than 28,000 spectators celebrated the fifth edition of Schloss Dyck Classic Days at July 31 and August 1 with plenty of sunshine. 250 volunteers kept the classics and motor festival for the good deed trouble free. Participants as well as visitors experienced a multitude of varity of motor vehicle hisorty by means of unique participating and exhibited cars and motorcycles. „Internationality and quality of the grid of participants have been refined once more during our jubilee celebration" Marcus Herfort states from organizer's side.

This year there were collector cars from the US as well as an official delegation from the Chinese branch office of Federation des vehicules anciens (FIVA), the world umbrella entity for historic vehicles.

The structure of Classic Days granted success: hand picked race and sports cars with trusted history demonstrated along the 2.8 kms long track what visitors can't experience when visiting a museum; and selected collector pieces make the international FIVA-A-Concours d‘Elegance kind of sculpture exhibition when displayed in the parkland of the castle gardens.

Visitors arriving in their own classics transform the miscanthus field in front of the castle into the biggest museum for mobility in Germany. Both days in addition, we have had some 5,000 classic cars parking right there.

The prize for the „Best of Show" in Concours d'Elegance went to the US-citizen Peter Heydon for his wonderful Duesenberg X Boat Tail Roadster from 1927, and overall winner on the circuit in Trips-Memorial was obtained by Friedhelm Tang (Germany) driving his 400 hp Kellison from 1955.

During the „Drivers Night" on Saturday evening TV cook Horst Lichter could auction two pieces of art in order to refund the Felix Burda foundation - a racing hotography by Werner Eisele and an acrylic painting of three racecars by Steffen Imhof - which made, added by the „1 Euro per driven kilometre", a sum of 12,000 Euros for the work on cancer prevention by the foundation.

The Classic Days team of volunteers is very happy to deliver once more all revenues from ticket sales
to the Schloss Dyck foundation in order to refund the reconstruction and preservation work.

First class restored but original patina outside.

Collaboration between foundation staff and Classic Days organizers has found a good harmony over the years and is part of the trouble free success of the venue. As well the good relationship with security, rescue and police is worth mentioning.
