spasixhours2011Without a doubt we are talking about the most prestigious of meetings bringing together the greatest collection of classic and historic cars on the revered Spa- Francorchamps circuit. As autumn draws near on the Belgian Ardennes the focus of attention is on the F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours 2011 event, it is on everyone’s lips, not only boasting the best international competitions for cars of years gone by, but on top of that an ever increasing range of activities and entertainment for the general public. An ever growing trend, with just over one month to this 2011 edition, scheduled to take place on the 23rd, 24th and 25th September.

“Within the Roadbook team the accent is entirely concentrated on the series being offered, as also the authenticity of the cars taking part in the various races, Vincent Collard explained. It goes without saying that we’ll be welcoming a vast number of cars specially prepared for competition as also some prestigious models in their original configuration. A quest for authenticity is something very close to our heart. The best example of this is the grid for our top event, namely the Spa Six Hours, scheduled for the Saturday late afternoon held over a race of 360 minutes. Not only has this entry list been well filled for quite a while already, but it is in fact packed with exceptional cars, with notably no less than some ten Ford GT40s !

As the meeting quite clearly emphasises, single-seaters in general and the Formula 1 in particular take centre stage. « With the Grand Prix Masters, which brings together the 3 litre F1 cars – with the legendary V8 Ford Cosworth engines – built between 1968 and 1978, we’re offering the best in that particular field, Alain Defalle continued. But taking into account the entries in the other series, we very quickly notice that we are in fact covering the history of the F1 from the ‘50s right on through to the ‘80s era. But even better than that the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association will give the spectators the opportunity to go even further back in time, thanks to a grid of single-seaters which had competed in the Grands Prix between 1952 and 1965. True jewels set-off against the splendid Spa-Francorchamps backdrop…

New to the F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours 2011, it is impossible not to pass over the Masters Sports-Prototypes, which brings together a grid of Group C cars of the ‘80s, with the legendary Prototypes such as Mercedes, Porsche, Nissan, Spice, etc. Not forgetting a few power beasts emanating from the famous North American Can-Am series.

For the whole family

However F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours is far more than just a succession of races, as prestigious as they might be. It is over and above all an incredible atmosphere, and an event to be shared by the entire family. The Village Paddock, a complete entity located in the heart of the paddock, draws both the young and old, not forgetting the female gender, as the stalls and stands slowly take away their attention from the motorsport theme to enjoy the art of living. A model of the Spa-Francorchamps podium will be on hand giving all those who so wish the opportunity to have their photograph taken in this rather original decor...and it’s free.

And whilst the cars are completing their laps on the track and the spectators are enjoying the spectacle from the grandstands, within the circuit or the heart of the paddock area, several additional events will be taking place, Vincent Collard interceded, with the celebration of 50 years of the E Type Jaguar, and numerous models are expected to be present, and on top of that a variety of car rallies of various types organised by numerous clubs will be calling in on Francorchamps.”

So its a question of heading on down to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit on Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September for the F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours 2011 and there will definitely be far more to talk about between now and then …
